Cat nostalgia time...

Cat nostalgia time - the pink Kanzan flowering cherry, dearly departed Fluff-Fluff's memorial tree, is blossoming. What a beautiful cat he was! And what beautiful blossom he is helping to produce, there in the middle of the Island Bed.

 Sitting on a post.
Fluff-Fluff in the Rhododendrons

The word of the day is definitely 'beautiful'. It's a beautiful time of the year to be looking out of the house windows thinking about doing some work outside. But wait - window-peeping is all very well, but it's also a beautiful time of the year to be working outside.

Doesn't the white Crab-Apple blossom look gorgeous! As does the Wisteria on the patio.

Right. I am off to continue making the Driveway Garden look beautiful. I can do this. If I get too tired I can sit down in the dirt. I could even organise a small potato patch in here - why not? Must remember to remove the four bags of pony poos which are percolating in the back of my car.

Five hours later...

Oh boy. Oh joy. Well, maybe not so much joy. My fingers are sore from pulling out grasses, and there are more to be removed.

 Getting better.
The Messy End of the Hump Garden

I've cleared a lot of mess, as one does, prepared the potato patch, and planted a row of Jersey Benne potatoes. All quite hard work. Lots of sitting down, then standing up, then sitting down again. Knee exercises!

 For teddy bears!
River Cruise

Saturday 10th October

Right. What to do today? I have young visitors to entertain (or at least feed) and mildly supervise. I know - how about some weeding? I will follow them around my garden, where many adventures await - such as wonderful trees to climb...

Later...

Did just that. Firstly I worked by the water race, while my friends (and assorted soft toys, only the washable ones) boogie-boarded down it, deftly dodging the new Gunnera growth. No toys fell into the water.

Then we all moved to the pond where I found loads of weeds. Cleared the path from the cottage around the water. Oops - I hadn't moved the big pots of Canna lilies into the glasshouse over winter - had left them on the pond decking. Trimmed the stalks, watered them, whispered apologies to the (hopefully still alive) rhizomes under the surface.

Also apologised to Pond Cottage for my absence. Haven't slept there for a while, not since the middle of winter when my two cottage cats became 'dearly departed'. Now the bigger of the two Fred cats shares my house bedroom. Cats on the bed - warm, restful company. Miss my cottage cats Minimus and Speckles.
