Busy...

Have had a busy morning taking garden photographs, swimming, and visiting the Botanic Gardens with my friend. Saw some amazing large trees (they make my own seem like miniatures).

Home I am, determined to make another part of my garden look beautiful. Today's choice - the Driveway Lawn and the edge of the Hump Garden. Off I go.

Two hours later...

Oh dear. I've discovered quite a lot of weeds in the Hump Garden. Someone (me) didn't finish weeding it properly in late autumn. And the horse manure they so generously spread around has made its own unique contribution.

But that's OK. Nothing that a mid-afternoon cup of tea won't fix.

Later...

Blast. By the end of the day, I hadn't finished beautifying the first big Hump Garden border. I'd only removed three barrow loads of weeds and grass clippings. There are lots more weeds to pull out. And my hand scraper got 'lost' somewhere in the middle of the sprouting Campion. Blast again.

Thursday 8th October

Am having a bit of a lazy morning - sorting out web pages, processing my latest photographs, thinking about my lovely garden out there and what I should be doing in it.

Am also very tired - didn't sleep very well last night after a groovy choir rehearsal. Wide awake at 4am - should I 'un-syncopate' the rhythm of that last word, and/or harmonise it? Honestly, this sort of thing is not sensible! Silly brain.

When in doubt, go food shopping for the weekend visitors, and meet a friend for lunch and coffee. Then we'll see about the garden.

At the end of the day

I have been sooooo good. I worked hard for four hours, slowly making my way along the Hump Garden edge. I got as far as the really messy end. Crawled into the middle of the gardens to remove weeds, tried not to crunch the Campion or any emerging Dahlia sprouts.
