Water me!

 So pretty!
Path to Little Bridge

Hot, hot, hot. It is very hot today, too hot to do any robust garden, I'm afraid. I should be watering, but the pond has been semi-drained. It's still filling up, so I can't yet use the irrigation pumps for my hoses. Foliage plants in the garden are visibly wilting. Water me! Water me! The Ligularias are really making a fuss.

Eels in the pond...

What to do? At least bucket some water out of the water race, which is flowing beautifully. Interesting - a couple of rather large eels are happily living in the irrigation pond. They were quite interested in Non-Gardening Partner's legs when he was standing in there fixing the intake pipe. Eek!

Two hours later...

Have been clearing a shady path in the Wattle Woods, following the edging of large stones. The woods are choking with Alkanet and Lamium. I've reached the little wooden arched bridge, which has been lost in the undergrowth for a few years now. Very exciting!. Imagined that I was an achaeologist following a roman wall, hee hee. Came inside for a cup of tea and a wee break. Some neighbouring person is having a bonfire - can smell the smoke. OK, so there's not much wind, but it's nearly thirty degrees Celsius. Stoopid!

Later - didn't last much longer, way too hot. Filled four large patio tubs with veggie mix, and planted them - two with tomatoes, two with potatoes. Filled my watering cans from the kitchen taps. Now am going to have a shower, wash my hair, and read my book. Far too hot for me to be working outside.
