Lists and Visitors...
Am inspired to get lots of things done today. Then I can enjoy the lovely visitors (and dog) who are coming tomorrow. Aha! A list is required. A simple and precise list. Here it is :
- Chainsaw the tree branch by the cottage (a possum jumps off it and onto the cottage roof).
- Clean up the weedy trees on the side of the Frisbee Lawn.
- Chain-saw overhanging Cherry Blossom branches in the driveway.
Small point - this looks suspiciously like a list for Non-Gardening Partner.
Four hours later...
Humph. So NGP snoozed in a chair for a while, then used his usual tactic to avoid working in the garden - he did the house vacuuming! Impossible to complain at this.

Autumn Leaves in the Island Bed
I did a lot of weeding in the Stables Garden and planted the Dutch Irises therein. I then planted the two new Yellow Wave Phormiums in large pots in the Allotment Garden. Poked around a bit weeding and trimming yellow Euphorbias, then burnt everything on the bonfire.
Sunday 26th April
Lovely visitors came this morning with beautiful brown spotty GSP dog Frida. This provided great excitement for my two collies, and great alarm for the house cats. Black Buster, not wise about strange dogs, got stuck in a breakfast chair. Frida the dog got the bigger fright, though.

Frida in the Autumn Leaves
The garden was showing off its autumn colours rather nicely. We all wandered around the garden enjoying the fallen leaves (of which there were many). I didn't realise quite how many until fresh eyes were looking around and commenting. Might be time to start raking them up?

Autumn Driveway
The spirit of dearly departed brown dog Escher was with us, nosing around underneath the big hedge looking for stinky things. Will always love you, dear dog.
Oops...
But picture this : three bustling dogs (none to be trusted), slightly wobbly old me with a nearly three-year-old holding my hand, all trying to get across narrow Willow Bridge at the same time. The bridge was badly blocked with vegetation. The water below was very cold. Oops...
So as soon as we'd waved goodbye I went out to make the bridge safer, clearing the Gunnera leaves and stems, the Carex leaves, and an overhanging green species Phormium which I decided needed to be completely removed.
Meanwhile NGP did all the chain-sawing on his list, so he was forgiven. By the evening all the house cats were back, relaxed, having forgotten all about the earlier barking frenzy.
Off to Norway...
I cuddled Red Fred and went on a train in Norway. Yeay for Youtube travelling (with cat) after a busy day in the garden!
