A Manitoba Maple!

 By the house.

Today is a bit drizzly, and I'm never sure what I feel like doing in the garden when it's a bit drizzly. The bonfire? Weeding? Pulling out more Periwinkle? All of the above?

Two hours later...

I chose the bonfire. Have to keep up the burning of all the dry Phormium leaves and gum tree mess. Got quite tired plodding back and forth with heavy barrowloads. No stamina!

But I had lots of encouragement from a fantail who flew in circles around me, twittering and squeaking. 'Keep going! You can do it! One more load!' Or was he saying something about me stirring up more insects for him to eat? Hmm...

Cleaned up the dead Maple - burnt the scraps, put the firewood logs by the back door.

More on Maples...

For the last twenty-five years a Manitoba Maple has been growing happily in the Dog-Path Garden. I didn't know that, but I must have bought it and planted it there.

Non-Gardening Partner (originally from Manitoba, so he should know) identified it for me this afternoon. Why didn't he tell me this before? How silly am I?

Right. Lovely visitors are arriving soonish, so I am going outside to pull out more periwinkle from the Shrubbery. My visitors will interrupt this rather ghastly task, and therefore I will be even more excited to see them!

Later...

It worked a treat! A wonderful excuse to stop, hee hee.
