Magnificent shrubs!

Good morning to my garden. Your shrubs are looking magnificent. I am so proud of you, of them, and of me. And oh my goodness - how large some of your rhododendrons have grown! Amazing. Wow. Assorted exclamations of joy and surprise.

Growth in my garden always surprises me. Especially when shrubs burst into flower - then their increase in size is much more noticeable. More and more of the rhododendrons are starting to flower now. The forget-me-nots soldier on, such pretty little blues. The spires of Ajuga look wonderful. Everything looks great (won't mention that oversized scruffy Phormium).

Much later...

Spent all morning at a ballet rehearsal (this is getting a bit much, to be honest). Then off to shearing - just had to help load the sheep in the trailer and get them home.

Into the garden : I was walking purposefully over to that Phormium, clutching my sharpest steak knife when - Kapow! I saw some grass weeds in the stone wall garden by the fence. Well, I couldn't just walk past, could I? So I sat in there, trying not to squash any Agapanthus, and weeded (slowly) for two hours. And now I'm inside cooking the evening meal and contemplating tomorrow. Am singing Palestrina in the morning, then a huge afternoon rehearsal (Stravinsky and Bruckner).

Sunday 20th October

OK. After singing for five solid hours, I'm home. Time to prick out some seeds - the purple Cornflowers, I reckon. And possibly pot up some Pelargonium cuttings. Little things, but much loved...
