Silly weather

This weather is silly. Two days of temperatures in the mid-twenties (Celsius), too hot to be in the direct sun, plants in pots needing watering. Then continuous rain arriving for the weekend, when temperatures will be cut by half - or more.

 With the dogwood tree flowering.
The Top of the Island Bed

Since pots (and the garden) will be watered in the natural way, the 'work smart' gardener can ignore the drooping leaves and wait for the rain. Oops.

This afternoon I didn't bother to put the hoses on. I did two hours of robust weeding around the top edge of the Frisbee Lawn, chopping down tall grasses in the lawn as well. Now I need the tractor mower to clean up what remains. Pulled out lots of Cleavers and general mess.

The forget-me-nots are covering the lawn. Oops!
Buster My Beautiful Black Cat

Darling Buster spied on me the whole time. I can see you, dear cat. Because you are shiny and black, you are very visible in the long green grass.

 By the water race.

Friday 25th October

Have been having a moochy sort of day sorting out my garden photographs. And catching up on some sleep!

Winnie the dog...

Have been worrying a bit about Winnie the dog. She is only eleven years old, but her back legs aren't working properly She falls over, and then can't get back up again. The vet still says that it's arthritis. Darling dog. It's alarming to see, but she's more inconvenienced than in pain at the moment.

And now I can hear the lawn-mower tootling around the house and garden, cutting the lawns before the rain arrives. Guess I'd better get out there and trim some edges.

Secateurs found!

Finally, some good garden news. Non-Gardening Partner found those fifty dollar secateurs I'd lost - they were tucked up safe and sound in the garage all the time. So I am not completely irresponsible and hopeless looking after my gardening tools.
