Weather-wise words...
Happy Cup
OK. Some weather-wise words. Work with the weather. It is what it is. Be thankful the rain hasn't been extreme (like it's been in the North Island). Stop mooching around blaming the weather for mooching around. The weather is not out to annoy you. Nothing personal.
Wednesday 26th June
Another night of noisy blobby rain on the cottage roof, keeping me half-awake, and disturbing Minimus my cottage cat, who wanted to go out, wanted to come back in, and so on. I left the door ajar, only be woken by her growling at the foot of the bed. Put on the light - there was Speckles the stray, right by the bed, staring up at me. So he was thinking about jumping up?
No mooching allowed
Today I've made a list, so I can feel better at the end of the day. No mooching allowed.
- Brush my hair properly (this will take at least 15 minutes).
- Go for a swim - good for hips and knees.
- Clean downstairs bathroom and toilet.
- Rake up leaves in Duck Lawn, put in bags.
- Trim something.
- Choose one more random gardening task.
Four hours later. Did everything except cleaning the bathroom. Trimmed most of the Phormiums in Middle Garden, raked up three bags of leaves, then had a go starting the bonfire. But everything was too wet. Not a problem.
Low Flowering Wattle
Gazing over my garden from Duck Lawn I noticed the big Wattle Tree leaning right over the glass-house, its brilliant yellow flowers just starting to bloom. Such a pretty sight! But something was funny - those flowers were rather low. Then saw that the angle of the glasshouse roof was all wrong. Actually, there were two completely different angles...
Wattle tree down!
Slightly nervous, I went over to investigate further. Oh dear. The largest Wattle tree had come down, smashing into the rhododendrons in the Wattle Woods and over the glass-house. I didn't hear it fall (would have been a bit frightening if it had have happened in the night).
Glass-House Broken
So the middle of my glass-house is in pieces, glass smashed, struts etc. buckled. There's a huge tree and lots of mess to clean up - a nice surprise for Non-Gardening Partner when he comes home from work. If he comes home from work - I sent him some photographs!
