Change-over time...

 Silly flower!
Bendy Lupin

It's flower change-over time. The lupins are almost finished (must trim the seed-heads), and now the day lilies are flowering. The ferns are full height (fat, green, and - well, ferny).

Summer cricket...

Summer cricket has started, with test matches here in New Zealand and Australia to enjoy. Yeay for my little cricket radio, which I listen to while weeding.

And it's almost the end of the silly singing season. This weekend is crammed full - singing alto in The Messiah, more Handel on piano accompanying a recorder player, then a gig playing blues piano and singing at the folk club.

Early next week (takes a deep breath) what should be the final hurrah - singing SATB Christmas carols with my friends. Phew!

Thursday 11th December

Well, well, well. Have enjoyed three hot lazybones days after the sing-fest of the weekend.

Slowly (and sporadically) I've been working my way around the Driveway Gardens, while listening to the cricket. Just one or two hours each session, but better than nothing. Pulling out all the old forget-me-nots is never-ending work.

 Clearing up the mess!
Garden Tools and Cricket Radio

But today I realised I am in a bit of gardening trouble. Before coming inside for my lunchbreak I went for a short work through the Hump Garden. Big mistake. So many weeds. Not fair. I sorted this garden out so recently. Back when all the roses were blooming. Oh - guess that was last month!

Pulled out yet more forget-me-nots...

So I went back and picked up all the rubbish I'd left lying around. And pulled out yet more forget-me-nots. Should have done some speed weeding in the Hump Garden, but ran out of time. Just pulled out some tall dandelion look-alikes. This really was weeding for the sake of appearances. And I still haven't trimmed the lupins. Blast!
