Multi-layered...

A bit of this, a bit of that... Autumn gardening is multi-layered, after all. One minute I'm picking beautiful roses, the next I'm carting annoying mess off to the bonfire.

Arrived home yesterday from chamber music and the water race flow was down. So I changed into my shorts and leapt in to clean up more Shastas from the banks. Just an hour, well worth it, but my feet got quite cold. The water temperature is noticeably colder.

 By the water race.

Saturday 14th March

Oops. It's already mid-afternoon, a gorgeous day, and I'm just about to go into my garden. A bit late, but what to do first?

I know. Continue clearing the Stumpy Garden, replant the Tricolor flax pieces in a pot and balance it on one of the oak tree stumps. Should look - interesting?

Three hours later...

Done. I also cleared the edge of the Septic Tank Border, and NGP mowed the front lawns. Yeay! Immediately the house gardens looked tidier. An amazing illusion. Non-mowed lawns certainly blur the border edges.

Sunday 15th March

Have been working for nearly five hours in a totally different garden area, clearing around the big gum tree. Masses of bark and small branches have been building up in the gardens beneath. Tidied up the edges, took three barrow loads of mess to the bonfire, which gurgled merrily. Ran out of puff, am apres-gardening inside, drinking iced water.

 Hmm...
This lawn needs mowing!

It's been fun flitting around doing totally different things in different places each day. Big gardens are, of course, perfect for this. Yeay! Big gardens are fun!
