Moosey News : September 2009

Dear Subscriber,

The garden is springing along nicely, and every week something new pops up to be enjoyed. How lucky am I to be able to garden full-time. I'm working harder for longer hours than I've ever done before, though - I love it!

This month's features

1. Favourite Australians

Hee hee... This is a gardening newsletter, so I'm talking about shrubs...

2. The Most Beautiful Camellia in the World

A big call, granted, but this single pink Camellia is absolutely gorgeous. Wonder what it's called?

3. Garden Gnome Rescue

I've been on a mission all month to augment the number of garden gnomes at Mooseys. Would you like to meet the new chaps?

4. Spring Dance Rhododendron

This is a rhododendron which performs superbly. It never misses a year!

5. Birthday Garden Benches

The recent BIG Moosey birthday has been a grand excuse to spend money, money, money... Check out my new birthday benches and seats.

Regulars

6. Plant of the Month : Weeping Silver Pear Tree

This is a beautiful blossom tree, and such a fashionable colour.

7. Animal of the Month : Fluff-Fluff Again!

It's not really favouritism. Fluff-Fluff is my constant gardening companion, always getting in the way - a jolly nuisance in the glass-house when I'm sowing seeds.

8. Garden Quote : Move the path, not the plants...

Of course, this only works if the paths aren't made of concrete, or pavers...

9. Garden Gallery : Spring Daffodils

There are some beautiful pictures of spring daffodils in the journal. I mean that the daffodils are beautiful!

10. Forum Focus : Friendship

The Moosey forum is a friendly place, even if lots of us (like the Head Gardener) get too busy and only manage to pop in once a week. We still care!

11. Gardening Advice : Write Down Plant Names!

Don't trust to your memory - if you take labels off plants (like I do) write the name down. Go on. Please...

12. Searching for Moosey : rustic garden bench

Rustic Bench in the Pond Paddock
This is THE most hotly searched phrase on the gardening internet. I've got some new pictures of some old rustic benches to show you, in the tour pages.
Rustic Bench in the Dog-Path Garden
This is one of the original garden benches - it's in need of urgent repairs.

13. Coming up this month : Plants and Gnomes

Hmm... Probably spending more on the online plant auctions, my latest in-house craze. And collecting more garden gnomes, my latest out-house craze. Oops - that doesn't quite look right! Happy gardening, whether you're inside or outside this month!

Cheers,
