Inherently slow...
Thoughts : The autumn mess I need to clean up is inherently slow to handle. It takes me ages to bag up the leaves - they are not well-behaved, they love to escape. Picking up fallen gum tree debris is a painstaking job - gum bark doesn't fit neatly into a wheel-barrow...

Autumn Maple Tree
But I love autumn, even if the gardening tasks involved in cleaning up are repetitive. Look at the autumn reds of this Maple tree in the Wattle Woods. I couldn't be without these amazingly vibrant colours to enjoy.

Saturday 16th May
Less thinking, more clearing. Have gone back behind the cottage to sort out the paths and gardens. Spent a quiet afternoon clearing mess. Brought out four heavily loaded barrowfuls. Burnt the lot. Lost (oops) my secateurs in the process. Possibly burnt them. Blast!
Sunday 17th May
Did more work behind the cottage. Great news - I found my secateurs. Needed them to trim the variegated Elderberry and clear small Pittosporum branches which were hanging over the path. Not so good - left my phone in my singing friend's car. Oh well. Don't need it to garden, hee hee.
Only cleared two large barrowfuls, but two is better than none. One is also better than none, in the modular world of gardening.
I added some dahlia trimmings to the bonfire. We had our first noticeable frost overnight, so the dahlias are done. Brr...
Monday 18th May
Got my phone back - nothing particularly exciting happened on it. Only worked for three hours, collecting mess (three barrow loads) and burning it. Dug rogue Lamium out of the Pond Paddock garden near the house. Raked up some large piles of leaves, ready to be bagged.
Wednesday 20th May
Today I went swimming, drove across country to buy two big bags of daffodils, and watched two episodes of Lewis on Youtube, before going to my Jazz Choir. A gardening lazybones!

And lots of beautifully brown oak leaves are still lying around in the Pond Paddock, still waiting. Oops.
