Stepping out...

 Almost all have been trimmed.
The Last Shasta Daisies

For interest, yesterday I counted my gardening steps. Four hundred from the Island Bed to the bonfire and back. Carried fifteen loads, plus six detours to pick up mess from the fence-line. I reckon I walked about three kilometers. And these are just gardening steps.

I love walking around the garden. Plodding with a heavy load in the wheelbarrow is not so pleasant - my back can get quite achy. Diddums!

Step less...

Today I am not going to garden-step anywhere, within reason. I will sit down and prepare the edges of the back lawn for mowing. I will definitely trim the rest of the Shasta daises an the lupins, and generally weed. Non-Gardening Partner won't mow straight through old flopped-over flower stems, even if I ask him to. Big softie.

Later, mid-afternoon...

Have spent the last four hours going around those border edges trimming lots of stuff. Finally dead-headed the Flower Carpet roses (they will reward me and rebloom). Crikey - four hours! It's not a very big area - I must be really slow. Or inefficient.

 A time to remember...
Earthquake Anniversary

Stopped at 12:51 pm to throw some pink rose petals into the water race. Today is the fifteenth anniversary of the big Christchurch earthquake. Time to remember the day when the earth moved, and to give thanks. I love my family so much.

The plan...

The plan is to do one more hour's work. I'm going to clean up the wee garden underneath the washing line. Hung my clothes out early this morning, noticed 'stuff' that needed doing.

Evening time...

What a superb day! Have enjoyed five rather restful hours of good gardening. So what if I didn't spread the compost in the Island Bed? Those bags are super heavy. And so what if I didn't carry more loads of mess to the bonfire? Not everything needs to be done at once.

Tomorrow can be the day when everything I should have done today gets done.
