Flower Carpet Roses

The driveway border is home to several bright pink Flower Carpet roses, seen here flowering in mid-summer.

These were the first so-called Flower Carpet roses to be sold in New Zealand, and they caused a sensation. They were marketed as the perfect groundcover - which anyone who has tried to weed underneath them knows just isn't true!

You can just see the matching new border to the right in the distance.

Summer Flowering Roses

I've always rated the Flower Carpet roses - their bright pink colour is great in my garden, and their flowering time is later then my other roses. So they nicely fill a slot in the summer rose flowering calendar.

My rose book says they have rambler blood running through their veins. Hmm...
