Smudges of colour!

One of the nicest surprises ever. I've been working hard on my winter garden clean-up, keeping my head down, making sure I don't trip over anything. Suddenly, little smudges of proper colour. Not just the winter greens and browns. Pinks! Reds!

Pink Azalea Flowering

Late yesterday, trudging back to the house, I looked up and around me. Yeay! Flower colours - a wee bit of red from the rhododendron Cornubia, then pink buds and the first little white flower of the Camellia Cinnamon Cindy. In the Island Bed President Roosevelt had his first deep pink and white flowers, and the large Azalea in the middle was absolutely covered in pink.

So there was flower colour at eye level (and higher) in my garden to enjoy. So it wasn't just the Hellebores anymore. Beautiful! Spring? Is that you?

 He has lost his variegation.

I also saw dried off stalks of Alstroemeria (which I'd tried unsuccessfully to eradicate), and a Daphne which seemed to have died (I chopped it out and popped it onto my bonfire). But hey! Let's not spoil the moment.
