Shrug my shoulders...

Cornubia Rhododendrons
Keep seeing lots of garden clearing which needs doing. I try to keep calm, shrug my shoulders, whatever. One needs to maintain a delicate balance, and there will be gardenless days.
Thursday 13th August
But after two no-gardening days in a row I got back to some good work today. Cleaned up more of the Island Bed, spread manure around, weeded, pruned two enormous Hydrangeas (ones I usually forget about). Took all my mess to the bonfire. Burnt the lot.
Friday 14th August
Had a wonderful chamber music rehearsal this morning - we are playing some Telemann, featuring the treble recorder (my friend is amazing), and me on keyboard harpsichord ( I am semi-amazing, because I make up the stuff in the right hand). Of course the viola and the cello are also pretty amazing!
The instant I got home I leapt into my grubby gardening pants and went into the garden. I was supposed to be finishing the Island Bed clean-up.
Finally!
First I dug up and replanted a rhododendron which had been struggling in the Driveway Garden - a little task I have been meaning to do for the last two years. Finally! I weeded along the edge and spread loads of pony manure around.

Phormiums in the Winter Garden
But then I wandered off over to the Hump Garden to prune some roses, and noticed a lovely blanket of weed-cover all over the ground. Sat on my bottom scraping out weeds for the next two hours. Spread more bags of pony manure.

Violets
Am feeling very virtuous. Have done some little things that I would normally forget about.
Saturday 15th August
It's drizzling outside. Time for some music practice (have to sing Palestrina tomorrow morning, then my Blues Band has a concert in the evening). Have been for a walk in the wet to take some photographs.
Sunday, late in the evening...
Yeay! Both my music gigs went well. I am very lucky. Night night.
