Wind-noisy...
Blustery summer nor-west days are difficult to enjoy, worrisome for the gardener (it's wind-noisy). My lawns are in a terrible mess, strewn with long pieces of gum bark - one of the joys of wind in summer. But I'm not complaining, honestly...
Sunday 11th January
I've had to put on my little hoses. I've had to water things that are newly planted (like the new roses below the glass-house). I can ignore the noise (as long as nothing falls down on me). Back soon.
Am back with some lovely roses for the house vases. The rain shadow of the nor-west is now reaching us - raindrops! In other words, the wind is so strong that rain is coming over the top of the mountains. It's too strong for me.

Big Bright Daylilies
Glad I'm not trying to walk along a ridge in those mountains. Well, I wouldn't be - I'd be crawling. No - I'd be sheltering under a rock, waiting.
Two hot hours later...
Inside for a break. Haven't done much. Will write an achievements list :
- Trimmed off flowering Phormium stems - two barrow loads.
- Shifted hoses on new roses below the glasshouse.
- Prepared the last two Michelias for planting.
- Repotted two of my Phormiums in bigger pots.
There's still much I'd like to do today. So I am going back out there. As I've said so many times before :
I can do this.
Only one hour later...
I've been very happy, with my brown blackbird providing excellent gardening company. I've enjoyed the gentle drizzly rain. The wind noise high in the trees has lessened a bit. Even the noisy pheasant honking in the grasses close by has been OK.

But thunder booming overhead is not OK. It's rude. I refuse to garden with thunder. Am inside, with clean clothes, fingers, and feet, listening to the drumming of raindrops on the house roof. Nice. Long may this noise last.
