Gardening Articles 2012
2012 in my garden is going to be the best year ever. But there's a trick to this. The current garden year is always the 'best' - just like the cat I'm talking to at the time is always the best cat. I love the changing months and seasons, and there are bound to be some new, exciting, serious and frivolous garden topics to talk about as the year progresses. Well, I hope so!

Leave it to Spring!...
- I've never been photographically fair on spring. And in my writing I adopt two extreme attitudes. I gush in a whirl of flowery cliches, where 'beautiful' and 'wonderful' describe 'blossom' and 'rhododendrons'. Then I flick the grumpy switch...

Spring Pinks...
- Pink isn't a colour that I immediately associate with early spring. A pink face, perhaps, as the gardener works hard getting the garden ready for the warmer weeks to follow. But this year in the Moosey Garden pink flowers are early-springing up everywhere.

Winter Reading - Colour in the Garden...
- Winter is a great time for me to catch up on garden reading in the public library. The shelves are full and colourful, but the emphasis in my library seems to be on small-scale gardening in small spaces - for small-minded gardeners? No, no, these books don't speak to me (I do try to listen, honestly).

Garden Colour Issues...
- Gardening magazines - for months I'll avoid reading them, lest a well-aimed article trigger a crisis of confidence. Straight-from-the-heart gardeners can be so sensitive! The very best garden writers seem to speak personally to me, and sometimes they tell me off - nicely, of course.

To Stake or Not to Stake......
- Some years back I made a resolution to give each of my garden plants the special care that they required. It was to be each according to its needs - summer pruning, winter trimming, dividing every third year, and so on. But I drew the line at serious staking.

Nosy Gardeners...
- I wish I was a nosier gardener. So many beautiful garden perfumes get completely missed as I clatter past, wheelbarrow full of tools, clothes and hair tinged with the odour of my last bonfire.

My 2012 New Year's Resolution...
- Give thanks when I wake up in the morning. Give thanks when I go to bed in the evening. And keep what's in-between really simple and really enjoyable. My New Year's Resolution for 2012 is deliberately designed to be a spiritual sandwich...

2011 Garden Awards...
- It's so 'last year' to have a Best of 2011 Awards List for the garden. But many wonderful things happen in my garden each single week. Summarising the whole year will be highly satisfying, personally, with reward and recognition for the lucky winners. Here goes.
