Churchyard Garden Tulips

I sensed a temporary break in the spring showers and managed an hour or so of photograpy down at St Giles Churchyard before rain forced me indoors.

Some small Tulip and Petunia beds in front of the church are caught showing off a few raindrops. I love photographing flowers immediately after rain.

The dark backgrounds and framing of these photos really make the most of the flowers available - There are several hundred tulips in two beds but some of the photos suggest many more.

After photographing tulips and petunias and a bit of pink spring blossom I poked around the side of St Giles church and came across an interesting ivy brick wall scene before. My friend Akira's email about Japanese blossoms convinced me to take as many blossom photos as possible. My favourite of all has to be the pink blossom and its rich milk chocolate brown leaves.

My decision to remain in the UK for another spring and summer has been vindicated.
