Glass-House Garden Roses

When newly dug the Glass-House Garden was so sunny and sheltered, perfect for roses. Hee hee - this was a temptation I just couldn't resist.
How exciting!
So I deliberately made space for quite a few. Some were shifted in from other less suitable areas of my garden, some were rehomed from other people's gardens. Often the owners didn't know their names, had no idea what colour they were, or even how tall they'd grow. How exciting!
I acquired some free David Austins - five creamy-white Glamis Castles - and planted them on the edge of the border. Sadly these roses were very disappointing - in my garden they were scruffy and unhealthy. Just not grateful enough for their change in fortune? Maybe there was a reason why they were free...
Casualties...
Naturally there were other rose casualties (so sorry, Just Joey). As there were with my bare root rescues from sale tables. I planted them lovingly in the Glass-House Garden. Some didn't make it, some did. Thank you, Nancy Steen and Topaz Jewel, for accepting the challenge. Both these roses are still there.

And a huge thank you to the splendid striped show-off Guy Savoy, who immediately settled in and took off, with healthy canes and beautiful blooms. He's still going strong.
