Seasonal Pictures
New Zealand has definite seasons, and it's pleasantly possible to garden every week of the year. The garden here never floods or freezes too hard. Wind is a feature we learn to live with, and summers can be difficult. Without an irrigation system and the water race which bisects the garden things would be quite different. Each season has its own photographic charm.

Puppy in the Snow...

Miniature Daffodils...
- Here are some miniature spring beauties - little yellow and white daffodils which I've planted on the garden's edge.
-
Summer Track...
- The track to the haybarn is an important part of the cat walking circuit. The sheep also travel this track every month as they swap paddocks.
-
Summer Shelter...
- Leylands are good shelter trees for the country, where there is space for them to grow. They are sterile, so do not throw unwanted seedlings around.
-
Spring Lambs...
- The merino flock are in the front paddock, enjoying the sunshine.
-
Frosted Rose...
- On a sheltered fence-line near the house Dublin Bay tries to keep on flowering, even though Winter has arrived.
-
Dry Grass by the Yards...
- Summer often brings semi-drought conditions, and the paddocks become very dry.
-
Frosted Salvia...
- Salvia Black Knight grows and flowers from late Summer until the frost season.
-
Frost on the Paddock...
- The back paddock gets the hardest frosts on the property.
