Water Loving Irises
Water-loving Irises grow in Middle Garden along the edge of the water. How very beautiful they are! Their main colour is bright yellow, but there are some whites and pale blues as well.
Yellow Japanese Irises
They were donated to me by my plantsman friend, and initially I planted them too close to the Gunnera. By late spring the giant Gunnera leaves completely shaded them from the sun. Needless to say they didn't bother to flower! The solution was easy - I replanted them further down the water race, in the sun.
And what type of Iris are they? I know the yellow ones are not 'Flag Irises', because they aren't at all invasive. I've always loosely called them 'Japanese Irises', and I have the vaguest memory of my friend calling them this.
