Hedgehog on the Steps
Hedgehogs are an introduced species in New Zealand, and do not fit well in our natural ecosystem. I'm always kind to any I see in the garden. Rather I find them and can send them happily on their way than one of my dogs.

From a cat's point of view the patio steps are beautifully sunny, and close enough to the fridge, just in case any there are any food noises from the house. From a gardener's point of view the coffee is still hot when she sits down! And the nearby climbing rose Compassion on the pergola at the side of the steps is very fragrant in summer.
