Moosey News : April 2011
Dear Subscriber,

This month's features
1. An Open Letter to Autumn 2011
It's high time I got my own seasonal point of view across. Sometimes autumn needs a few pointers...
2. Tiromoana - Walkway to the Beach
Here's a gentle farm and beach walk which I enjoyed recently.
3. Three Seasons in Pond Cottage
Pond Cottage is enjoying its first autumn, as is the Head Gardener (me) who has semi-moved into it!
4. Souvenir de Mme Leonie Viennot Rose
This Madame is a generous, cheerful rose, and not nearly as old-fashioned as some would have us believe...
5. Hakonechloa - The Perfect Grass
This grass is delightful. So delightful that I've only just though to write about it. Hmm... Most likely because I couldn't spell its name until now.
Regulars
6. Plant of the Month : Prosperity Rose
Here's a rose with a wishful-thinking name, but a priceless look! And it's still flowering, late in autumn.
7. Animal of the Month : Sifter the Longlost Tabby
Dear Sifter. An artist has painted his cat-portrait, and it's just arrived, over the oceans from South Africa.
8. Garden Quote : From Albert Camus
Aha! A proper quote from a real writer...
9. Garden Gallery : Autumn Colours
Here's a page of rich red and glowing golden autumn photographs. And some lovely snoozing cats! Enjoy!
10. Forum Focus : Quietly Gardening
The forums are quiet, but we seem to have lost the 'spammer in the works'. Phew! I really did want to buy Liverpool football shirts and Louis Vuitton shoes to garden in. Or was it bags? Oops...
11. Gardening Advice : Butterflies
Advice from a very fledgling photographer of insects, buzzy things, flying things, and wildlife in general.
12. Searching for Moosey : recycling bricks
- recycling bricks
- I am now an expert on the cleaning of old, used bricks - I'm making a small brick pathway and courtyard out of some. But I have a serious warning for any others who are tempted to recycle old brick house walls into garden features...
13. Coming up this month : Maybe winter?
Maybe some really cold weather and nasty frosts? No problem! Brr...
Cheers,
