Nicotiana Sylvestris in Flower

One of my most favourite self sown plants.
nicotiana sylvestris

I love letting the large perennial Nicotiana Sylvestris self seed throughout my garden. In its early days, as a result of this policy, several clumps grew happily in the Dog-Path Garden.

But they were right in the middle of the main path through to the orchard. The day came when (alas) the path had to be cleared, and Nicotianas are difficult to transplant. They hadn't self-seeded, as I'd planned. But then self-seeders do have minds of their own, and their own agendas. I waited rather hopefully for new plants to appear. Nothing!

On my 'To-Do List...

This then became an item for my 'to-do' list. How about a deliberate planting of these beautiful flowering plants in the back of the Dog-Path Garden, amongst the rhododendrons? Please, please, please? The look would be amazing - they are, after all, known as 'Woodland Nicotianas'. And the Dog-Path Garden was definitely turning into a beautiful woodland area.

Oops. Haven't quite got this sorted yet.

 Ornamental tobacco.
