Where are all the old lady internet rose gardeners?

Unless I see some more rose posts I will begin the St Giles Churchyard Rose Garden Series...

Southern hemisphere old lady rose gardeners are too busy nursing their cuts and sctatches, which they have acquired from silly pruning methods (e.g. no gloves!). Their fingers are too sore to type anything!

And some of the beloved David Austin roses are the worst - why do their spindley branches need all those ridiculous thorns at every angle?

And I never like charging in with secateurs blazing to cut off the rose hips (which are so colourful in winter). Details, details....

:D Here I am.
Finished all the pruning. You are soooooo right about the D.A's Moosey. My Chianti nearly got the better of me.
I to sometimes prune without gloves and that is not a good look.
We have had a series of heavy frosts so no doubt the bugs and disease has had a good seeing to.

Lucky you, Pumpkin!

I spend three hours pruning. Then I notice another batch of roses which I've completely forgotten about. It's like some never-ending rose-pruning gardening treadmill nightmare!

I am using the edge clippers, and the hedge trimmer will come out next weekend for the high canes. I've been absolutely brutal with come of the bigger roses though (like Compassion and Dublin Bay). I hope they don't sulk for me! I intend they build some new shoots from the base - it's high time they did!

Cheers, and keep on wearing those gloves....
