29 Apr '08 12:00 pm Hi!
You can call me Willo. I live in mid-Michigan, and am working with an 18' x 18' veggie garden. This year I am expanding with a 18" x 6' lettuce bed, a dill and fennel bed (still to be determinied), a 18' x 3' herbal bed, and a 25' x 25' community garden plot. My main goal is to offset the cost of food for my family over the coming years and figure this is the best way to do it. My intentions this year is to get a good yield, can and freeze as much as possible and see where it gets us. I have been toying with potager type gardening, and am expanding into gardening using verticle growth training. I will be posting pictures, plans and the like as the season goes on and I can get things uploaded. If you were to see it right this minute you might not think I could get it all done, so I will wait until I have more proof . Check back as I will be posting my intended plant lists and garden layouts in the next day or so. I really look forward to any help or advice you might have for me, and maybe I might even have a penny or two for your thougts!! Heres to dirt under the nails, and weeds that only appear in your neighbors yard!

30 Apr '08 4:31 am Welcome Willo. Your plans sound very interesting, so be sure to post some pics as soon as you can. We even like seeing "before" shots. You can see some pictures of my raised bed potager in my Gardens Through the Seasons posts. I have also started a new thread about a rooftop Victory Garden that I am helping to develope for a local charitible organization. So far, the only pictures are of the empty parking deck, but this Saturday we will be installing 18 large raised planting beds and there will be more pictures to come. Good luck with your plans.
