The Other Rose3 May '06 11:43 am
I have two different roses in the flower garden - the first you have seen, it is the Westerland...the second one is the "Händel".
It is a pretty thing, but not so fragrant or stunning as the Westerlaand, in my opinion.
It was selected to go up against the dark green shed because we thought it might stand out well. It's nice to look at, just too bad that it's fragrance is so minimal. Oh well, I am most interested in how it looks, so we are happy with it. Hope you folks like it.

A Symphony of Roses..3 May '06 8:46 pm
Thanks for sharing these, Liza. They are gorgeous. I don't know roses at all... but I have seen the "Mozart"before. They both look healthy and happy in your garden. I take my hat off! Are they bush types? I can see why some people could go a little crazy with roses... there are some stunning ones. While we were in Great Britian a couple of years ago, we visited the Peter Beales gardens. I can only say that if you are ever in England... take a look. http://www.classicroses.co.uk/roses/
Thanks again,

Thank you Sjoerd!
Yes! We are actually going to London to meet my daughter at the end of this month, but only for 3-4 days. I would love to go to Peter Beals Gardens!
I'm sending you Luis Lens' Roses site, just to have a look. And then, --who knows -- you might fall in love with some, and order! They are of excellent quality! There is also a whole explanation section, dedicated as well to cover-plant shrubs, like the ones I sent you. There, you can meet more "Musician Roses", by the names of "Schubert", "Ravel", "Verdi"
"Vivaldi", "Puccini",and "Sibelius"! He calls this group of Roses "Hybrides de Moschata". The site is in French and Flemish/Dutch with very good quality photos. Here: www.lens-roses.be

Ja...this really IS a nice website. I would LURVE to visit that some day. They have a generous selection and looks like a place that one could spend a few hours ambling around in. heh heh.
Yes, who knows..I may well fall in love...but I must be careful not to let my flower garden fall too much out of balance, for, that can diminish the over-all effect of the whole, y'know what I mean? My problem is space...I don't have a nice, spacious garden behind my house like most folks here, so I must make-do. One could already argue that it is too full. Ha ha ha. It seems that I can always find a place for an annual that I see and "must" have, but then they are gone the following year.
Thanks for the web addy, Liza.
