Potting up plants21 Jan '06 11:52 pm
Hey Jan -
Good point, I should think about potting up some plants too as they are getting so big for their pots. Is this the best time of year to do it? |

Bex - thats an easy question.... my plants typically get repotted in the winter when I actually have time!
I'm probably one of the worst for caring for my indoor plants. I keep very few kinds of house plants just for that reason. They have to be easy to care for and very forgiving! |

is there an IDEAL time?9 Mar '06 11:41 pm
apart from time and opportunity, thinking on behalf of the plants and not disturbing their root system, is there an IDEAL time to repot pot plants?
I only have outdoor pot plants as i am allergic to mould and have been medically advised not to have indoor potplants. I miss having plants inside. |

Repotting flaxes14 Mar '06 2:36 am
I'm particularly concerned about the flaxes, as they are such monster plants in such small pots. Do you think it's better to repot or cut back? Also, can they be divided up, or would that totally kill them off?! |

Pottting and re-potting thoughts...14 Mar '06 6:25 am
Well, for the pot-plants which overwinter outdoors and indoors, the ideal repotting time is Spring, because they will support the replanting shock much better, and start growing really fast. Because, there is an immense rebirth and growing progress during this magical time ...
Now. For those who suffocate in their home and Winter approaches, it is very beneficial to repot them in Autumn, but only if they overwinter indoors. And this, because during Winter they will get used to their new home at their ease, protected inside, while global growth is slowing down, and then in Spring they will just be " en plein form", in their best form, to celebrate and welcome Spring! Voila! |

Re-Potting flaxes14 Mar '06 9:38 pm
Hi Bex
Spring is the best time for flaxes and you can split them up with no worries. Make sure you cut them keeping roots on each split and you should see new growth coming quite quickly. Some people say to cut half the foliage off so they look like a fan. I have tried this and have had good results. They are usually very hardy so have a go!!
Good Luck |
