Mystery rugosa7 May '05 9:13 am
Dear Moosey,
My mom & I were just admiring that beautiful white rugosa which you didn't know the name of. Did you ever find out what it is? We would love to get one for our gardens.
Thank you, Lera

I'm not sure that I did, Lena! But there is new hope - I've recently found a drawerful of old plant labels - but naturally they are all of a mixture, all in together. Obviously I thought I was being sensible!
As a thought - tell me exactly which page the picture is on - and I'll check that label drawer again. Also the rugosas have gone autumnal - those with rose hips have hips, others have leaves turning golden. More clues! Cheers.

I checked on your website and the title was "Rugosas in the Garden Journal"
dated Saturday, December 4, 2004. The picture is of a white rugosa with a
pink blush titled "Unknown Rugosa". I have searched over the internet and
haven't seen one quite like it.
Thanks, Lera

A friend in Virginia reckons the unknown rugosa might be Sir Thomas Lipton. I actually have an old decaying Sir Thomas Lipton label, too.... so there's a good chance! It's a beautiful bush. Next flowering season I will try a nosy-fragrance test.
Cheers
