Whitianga Garden23 Apr '06 9:29 am
I was walking at Whitianga (Coromandel Peninsula) and saw this beautiful garden ,I cautiously knocked at the door, and asked if I could take photos ...I need not have worried , all gardeners are generous people ! Lovely people have created this one.
What first drew my attention was the bright standard roses ..they are 'flower carpet crimson 'grafted on to a standard stem .Neat buxus hedges formalise the garden structure .The bright yellow and red annuals are in pots within the hedge ,and can be moved .

Mysterious Entrance25 Apr '06 12:23 pm
What an absolutely intersting and mysterious-looking entrance. That really gets the imagination going. The info in your short description was really good. You really found a nice one, didn't you, Dixie.

That's what I like in the entrance picture! Entrancing! (hee hee) I love this colour combination. You are a great one, Dixie, wandering into gardens like a professional! Luckily you're right about how jolly nice gardeners are! We rock!

Romantic films..26 Apr '06 4:33 am
The left photo reminds me of the atmosphere in certain romantic films, with main theme stories taking place in past centuries.... Wow...

Two more photos29 Apr '06 10:58 am
Part of the garden was in succulents ,as shown in the photo. Two swans were formed from wire, and small succulents were growing over them .Deep blue glazed pots were grouped together ,with plants spilling out of them .I was intrigued that the gardener had sprayed the tips of some of the plants red .She told me she was a floral artist ,and I could see that skill in the artistic presentation .

I like the pots!29 Apr '06 12:46 pm
Dixie, I really like the colours of the pots, mixed up in the colours of the garden. Why have I never bothered to do this? I feel lke zooming out and buying the biggest reddest pot I can find! Oops! Wallet? Budget? Because the coloured pots would need to be a GARDEN THEME, which means one would definitely need more than one of them, cos one would look silly.
I have a gardening friend who can casually place a pot in a group of plants and the effect is artistic, magical. I'm green with envy!
