Autumn is here24 May '08 7:49 am
Well-one could be excused for being gloomy when one gazes at the bedraggled mess outside. However there are some interesting things come our way sometimes.
The Waikato balloon festival was held recently. We are directly east of Hamilton, where the balloons all leave from so they usually arrive over our way.

Waikato fog24 May '08 8:02 am
The Waikato area where we live is known for its wet, miserable, gloomy, dreary, cold,FOG.Here is the first fog of winter..It must have been widespread as Auckland airport was closed all day as well as Hamilton airport-about 50 planes affected I heard.Sometimes the fog is around all day.It is foggy-not because of pollution, but because we are basin-shaped and the whole area used to be a huge swamp before the English settlers drained and cleared it all.

Aargh!24 May '08 9:27 am
There's an obvious smart comment to be made here. If you've got fog, then you can't see the weeds so easily? Hee hee.
Since the big South Island snow dump which caught the weatherforecasters out they've become super-cautious. Rain warnings, snow flurry warnings, and so on. Now that all gets a bit gloomy...
Fog flurries, anyone?
