A Tragic Turn of Events30 Dec '07 2:07 pm
My dearest friends,
I have been holding off making any posts on this subject. I didn't want to cast a pall over your Christmas celebrations and I was hoping I would have good news to share before I have to share bad news.
The bad news is this. On December 18th I slipped up to the drug store to pick up a prescription for Deborah and, as usual, I left our dog Storm to run around the front yard for a short time while I was up the street. I was only gone 20 minutes or so. When I got home, Storm was not in the yard.
Allow me to cut this story short and save you some of the painful steps along the way.
It turns out two boys about 12 years old opened my gate and coaxed my dog out and then chased her around and tried to catch her. She ran up on a neighbor's porch but he failed to recognize her right away and he saw these two kids trying to catch her and figured she was their dog. Only when I was on the train tracks shortly after that did he realize it was our dog.
So our beloved dog has been stolen from us and Deborah is completely devastated, as am I. Christmas was ruined for us. We managed to make the evening news on TV last Saturday and we also had a big write up on page 9 of the local newspaper but they have not generated the good news we were hoping for. We also put posters up and sent them out to the four corners of the city.
Give your pets a hug for us and keep a watchful eye. Deborah and I will keep this thread updated with developments. One development is that the Regina police are about to assign a detective to our case.
Sad in Saskatchewan,
Christopher and Deborah

Christopher and Deb-our thoughts are certainly with you and with Storm...It is not knowing that is so terribly hard to handle, and wondering if he is all right...please let us know any news.I guess the thieves would be keeping him inside, but someone would have seen him going there.
Dixie.

Christopher and Deb! My heart sinks at the thought of something happening to my dogs - I can only imagine what it is like when something like this actually DOES happen. Like the return of Moosey's Mugsy, I DO hope that there will be a happy ending to herald in the new year!

Oh dear, Christopher and Deb, that's not good news. We can only hope that goodness will come out of this and that Storm will be OK. Your Christmas would certainly not have been what you were expecting.
Let us know as soon as Storm is found. Big hugs from the Moosey dog, and from all of us. And go all the good people you live near who'll be seeing that poster and helping.
Cheers, M

Dear Christopher and Deb, I was so sorry to hear about the tragedy that has befallen your family. I do have a positive story to relate about a stolen pet. When I was a young girl, my family had a beautiful black Cocker Spaniel who was solid curls. Her name was Dusty and one day she turned up missing. She could not be found anywhere and of course we were all broken hearted. A couple of weeks later, my dad went to a local junk automobile yard (remember those?) to look for a part he needed to repair our car. While he was there searching for the right part, my brother and I were waiting in the car when a very short haired black dog came bounding up and started jumping on the side of the car. It was our lost Dusty. Someone had shaved off her beautiful curls in an attempt to disguise her. Her hair regrew and she lived with us into old age.
I hope your story will have such a happy ending as well.

How devistating! I sure hope you get your companion back soon. Hard to imagine that someone would just steal a pet. I don't know how long it has been but one reads of reunions after long seperations and I'm hoping you have one to report soon.

Thank You, My Friends2 Jan '08 3:25 am
First let me wish you all a Happy New Year today. It's early in the morning here. We were awakened by a phone call from the Regina Police with a report that someone had our dog. Sadly, it turned out it was not our Storm, but a beautiful dog nonetheless. Our hearts did jump only to fall again when we were shown a picture of the dog that was found. The nice lady who found that dog sent us a picture in an email.
Anyway, the good news is that the Leader Post, our local paper, has issued another article on our plight. Perhaps you would like to read it. Here is a link:
http://www.canada.com/reginaleaderpost/news/story.html?id=c2d8b237-d1b9-4bb1-b3da-7cd3bc61e208
The article in the newspaper proper has a photo but the online version does not. I'm not sure why that is.
How about this for a turn of events. A generous person here in town has put up a $500 reward for Storm's return. Hopefully this will help. Also, we have found another witness who is familiar with the two boys who took Storm. She doesn't know their names but she has seen them in the neighborhood causing all sorts of trouble. She said she will call the police with a description.
Through a strange sequence of events we have had a tip that the dog has been seen in Southey, a small town some 30 miles from here. This is a very sketchy report, however, and we are having a hard time confirming it. I'll keep you posted on this possible lead.
So the saga unfolds. Deb and I are very touched and our hearts are warmed by your kind replies and support. Thank you so much, my very good friends.
Happier times in 2008,
Christopher
