Webcams at waterholes in Kruger Park6 Sep '07 3:30 am
This weekend I'm going to the Kruger Park with Rotary friends. Whilst checking on something on the web I discovered that there are two wonderful webcams at waterholes. They take a pic every 40 seconds. As I write this half my screen shows them, and the other half this window. Watch out. It could be habit forming!

I've just seen a bird! Must check how long it stays there. Imagine if a big thing wanders into the shot - I will never get any work done! Thanks, Jack. Liza - you'll have to try again. Or was it just night time? Not sure if webcams understand night. |

Wow! The bird is now sharing the waterhole with some striped beasts. Amazing! Have to check again, promise I won't keep posting... |

I know I promised, but the zebra have wandered off, and just the bird remains. This is rather fun! But now I really really promise I will post no more about the webcam at the waterhole, no matter what amazing thing wanders up to drink.
Hey, bird - you're a legend! |

I Saw Four Zebras!6 Sep '07 9:52 pm
All having a drinky-poo! Say, Jack, that sure is neat. As a matter of fact, Deb and I have great interest in African and its wildlife. We often hang out and see what's going on at our favorite watering hole, Nkorho Pan. It's a streaming web cam very much like watching a live TV. If you're interested, here's the link:

We just love it and the sound is excellent too. You can go directly to the Africam website but then you'd have to wade through a lot of ads before you could view the web cam. This link is a lot better.

P.S. Moosey, this is your website! I wouldn't worry about making too many posts if I were you. Ha ha!
P.S.S. We just watched a dozen wildebeest having a drink and hamming it up for the camera. |

Jack, thanks for the link. I was able to view the picture, but not much was happening while I watched. I didn't have a lot of time to devote to watching, but will try later. I did also check out Christopher's link and it has sound also. The sounds were fascinating, but the only activity I saw was a bird that flew in, hopped around on the ground for a few minutes and then flew off over the watering hole. One sound that I heard could have been a large cat cub, but I never saw anything to verify that.
You are right that they could be addictive. |

That black stuff you can see is what we call "darkness". It happens at night, especially when the zebras accidentally leave their torches behind on the hall table, as I have often done myself.

I saw the light!!7 Sep '07 11:13 pm
This time , Janet , I saw the daylight, indeed! Thank you for your gentle explanation!! Actually, I saw a pond in the wilderness in the first photo, and then something like a tiny river in the second one... The pond was suddenly visited by two girrafs!!Lovely! |

Lots of people I have told in NZ now watching too, though we are 10 hours ahead which means that when I think I might take a look it is night time!I'll get it synchronised eventually.
