Summer Houses and Gardens in Europe.9 Aug '07 3:17 am
Yes! I just wish to share my trip experience with you!! Again!
Going to Corfu from Belgium by car, one has to reach Italy, and pass to Corfu by Ferry. So, we had to pass the German and Swiss Alpes, and reach the Venice Port. From there we reached Corfu.
We left a cold and rainy Belgium, to reach a real Summer weather in Germany, and up onto the Alps!! In Venice and Corfu it was an....oven of 43 Celcius!!During the first week of our stay, the temperatures were between 41-45 Celcius...
By the way, here in Belgium it is raining right now , and outside it is 16 Celcius.. That is why I am, once again, in front of my computer...My garden is like an abandoned colourful garden, since I seldomly worked there during July, and since we returned from holidays, I only worked twice...Howcome I am still so calm??

I adore European architecture. The pink house in particular is very interesting-a brave colour scheme, but perfect and stylish for the house. All the shrubs and stone walls are stunning.

I love the pink house - it's a great pink, like seashells. Thank you for posting, Liza - I love your pix!

With the pink house, one thing bothers me....How did they get the terracotta pot on a shelf on the wall under the right window(9)? (Not to mention why?)

Dixie, dear,....9 Aug '07 9:34 pm
.....I have no idea!! But this house, globally AND in details, is a part of my heart!! Because it respects the architectural cultural tradition, it is built within an olive-forest respecting the environment, it is close (5'-10')to Agios Stephanos(St.Stephan) , Kassiopi, Nissaki, beautiful sea-villages, where you can buy everything, and have a wonderful -- fancy or family ---time!! AND it is surrounded by any sort of Farm animals!! Much loved and respected!
And it has a magnificent view from its large balconies/decks!! Have a look:

Liza, again you make me feel like I was along for your great tour of beautiful European cities. I only wish I HAD actually been there. Makes me really want to go. I love Mediterranean gardens (and food). That is one reason why I have used so much white pea gravel and stone in my gardens. It feels like a little Mediterranean touch to me.

I loved the pink house so much that I have it as my screen saver-it was then I noticed the little pot perched up high.I love the beautifully built walls and paths. And the colour is what first attracted me with picturebook windows and shutters. The extra details you added Liza, such as the olive setting and the magnificent view add to its charm.
Dixie.

For the life of me I can't figure out which is the "pink house". They all look great. Wait a minute, its one of the earlier photos and now I see the planter Dixie was talkig about. It is oddly placed and no doubt hard to access even to water. I kind of like it just because it makes me wonder why and how? Yep, this house and its surrounding walls and garden are the winner here. I agree with Dixie that you have a nice way of taking us along with you on our -I mean- your trips. Now I can't wait to go back!
