Pink Rose with darker Pink veins25 May '07 6:47 am
I have only been planting and growing roses for about 3 years. Last year I made a lot of cuttings. Most of them I had no idea what the name of the parent bush was.
One I totally forgot about apparently. In April this year I fount this tiny little rose bush in a pot under a huge pile of dried leaves. It is blooming now and I would love to know the name of it.
The bush is only about 3-4 inches tall. The cane is green, the throns very red. Leaftlets appear to be in sets of 5. They are medium green and medium thickness. The stipule is veined with red. The cane is rigid.
The rose itself is about 1.5" across and appears to have 10-15 petals. It is light pink when open with darker pink veins on the petals.
Here is a link to a photo album where I have detailed pics of the rose, cane, underside of leaf, stipule, etc.
Hope someone can help me identify it

Napoleon??30 May '07 6:41 pm
Someone has suggested that my little pink veined rose might be an antique romantica named after Napoleon that was introduced in 1835.
What do those with more experience than I think? Might it be Napoleon?

Old Blush31 May '07 2:45 pm
Thank your for your input. Looking closer, it really doesn't look like a Napoleon. I think I found one picture that resembled it.
BTW - it has been identified at least to type of rose. Have had a lot of rose experts [anyone who has been growing rose 10 years or longer is an expert to me ] as an antique china.
The latest candidate is Old Blush. Now Woodland Rose Gardens web site has several pictures of old blush and one is almost a twin to the picture I took. There is one that doesn't look like mine but it has initials behind the name that the other pics don't.
Here is the url to see that picture on Woodland Rose Garderns

So, what do you think - could it be old blush? I need to find a site or book that gives details of the leaves, size, number of petals, etc.

Thanking you for your intereset in helping her solve this name mystery

It does look similar. It's slightly darker than yours, but otherwise could be a match.
