Hanging baskets10 Jun '07 7:15 am
These photos are the baskets belonging to my next-door neighbour where we both used to live-she has since moved too. She always said to make things 'Big' in a garden -wide beds, big baskets, wide paths, archways for height, and her garden always looked stunning.

Wonderful stuff hanging around10 Jun '07 8:36 am
Dixie, what splendid baskets. Huge, too! My old friend always said "Go big or go home." and he meant it. I guess our new motto should be, "Go big around the home. (or stay in bed)"
I sure like that pink one.

Wow, big is better!14 Jun '07 10:49 am
I'm inspired. I'm going to try to put together a big basket. (Well, as soon as I get my pond in, hang the door to my garden bed, install a couple of windows to look into the garden from my office, .. you get the idea.) I wonder if that is one of those that uses more moss than soil to keep the weight down? I too love that big pink flowered one that looks like an epi or orchid cactus. The whole garden is wonderful. If you tell me that tree fern in the background is a cyathia medullaris I will die of envy. That is on my short list of wanted plants.

This garden is stunning -quite a few ferns in it as part of the larger picture.
I am going to be writing about it next in Muddy Wellies' site Winsfordwalledgarden.com
I will have the 'before'photos -you won't believe them !
Another couple of views of the same area.

She does not have a computer and told me she would never have time for one anyway!
Her new garden in town is much much smaller but is looking beautiful already.
I am going into see her in the next day or so,and i will ask her about the baskets -it looks as though she might have poked holes in the bottom and planted flowers there for them to hang down like that.

I love her layering also, so effective!
Have you been to Otorohanga? We have traveled through there in the summer and the main street has fabulous hanging baskets down both sides. It looks awesome! They have done a great job
