My humble garden in the making1 Feb '07 7:50 am
I have only a little time before going to work, so will start with just one shot of my vegetable garden. It is still waiting for the sawdust paths I have promised it for ages. In the background are tepees for runner beans and sugar snap peas. There are six boxes for vegetables so far, and one for strawberries, while the edge along one fence line is for herbs, rhubarb and raspberries (well fenced around with short lengths of roofing iron) and the other end is for berry bushes - gooseberries, black and red currants. At the end, behind the teepees are quince and Peasgood-nonsuch (strange name for a wonderful, huge, apple - both for cooking and eating)apple trees

Some more of my developing garden1 Feb '07 7:45 pm
I am growing New Zealand native plants in a dedicated area to the side of the house. It isn't all planted yet as I need to put drainage to the stormwater.

My garden - I wish!1 Feb '07 8:01 pm
I'm going to cheat a little now and post pictures of a garden that isn't mine by possession, but I work in it, so I feel it belongs to me a lttle. It is a large farm garden, whereas mine is a typical small town quarter acre, as are the other two gardens I work in. This one has vistas and shrubberies which mine lacks totally. These photos were taken on a miserable damp day at the end of autumn/beginning of winter, so it is lacking in vitality somewhat!

The 'borrowed 'garden is certainly on a grand scale ,Teecee .I like that the roses seem to be allowed to grow naturally .All your forum friends will now be imagining how lush and green your native corner will be ! I have heard that you have extremes of climate in Otago -how is it in your area ?

Hi Teecee, thanks for showing us your own garden and the one you work in too. As Jack said in his Summer Shots post, none of us really own our gardens, but I think you can claim wardenship over any that you work on!
I adore your vegetable garden, and you’ve got such a variety planned/already growing! I’m sure you can’t wait until they start cropping.
And the bird feeding area is such a great idea, particularly with that bench under the tree where, presumably, one can sit and enjoy watching them – how peaceful!

Hi TC!1 Feb '07 11:05 pm
Nice to see something of your life! I envy you your neat vegetable garden. I have often wished for one, but until I have the time to manage it myself it remains a dream. As for the apparently gorgeous garden you work in - how often have I not wished I was the gardener and not the employer in my garden. So much of my life is about working elsewhere in order to afford what I do in my garden - linked to the constant fear that eventually the upkeep will simply be more than I can afford! The result is that I don't spend nearly enough time in my garden...
Let's have more pics, and stories about your garden plans and the gardens you work in!

Wow Teecee, I love your vege garden. What is it they say about like minds? I have posted a picture of my own vege garden below. See anything familiar?
I was also very impressed by the beautiful garden where you work. What a blessing to be able to work in such a inspirational place. How many ideas have your stored away for future use in your home garden?

I ended up using pea gravel for my paths because the original mulch that I used washed downhill in hard rains.

What an Inspiratiom!2 Feb '07 6:05 am
Dear Teecee, after so long you have been with us, giving us now and then precious proofs of your talent in gardening and in real botanical-knowledge, I am SO happy to see you here with us, sharing your own gardening life and inspiration!
I loved your well arranged vegg garden, but I am a total zero on this sort of gardening, since I have never been into the real thing, yet. So, I will just tell you, how I share your delightful and tender sentiments and feelings for this magnificent garden you work professionally in : it is so romantic, so beautiful and artistic, both on the plants arrangement , colours and textures, and on its refined decorative look! What a blessed place to work at, and be inspired yourself!
And , dear Faith, how lovely, neatly, and beautifuly arranged this vegg corner of your gardening life! Is your exceptional wild life attracted by it as much as ....yourself? How do you face a possible problem like this, living close to Nature?
