Always nice to welcome new contributors! Where are you? It is amazing how similar seaside architecture and plants are in sub-tropical areas - some of your pics could easily have been taken in South Africa! My guess is that you are in Malaysia or thereabout: you have plenty of space, mountains, mangroves and drive on the left... am I right?
Your pics are beautiful and it looks as though you have a really lovely new home in a truly beautiful area - do you walk down to take the beach photos or is it too far away? I can see you are real close to the sea!

Welcome, dear new friend!11 Jan '07 11:06 pm
You just did the right move : to come in and send us photos of your beautiful garden and your neighbourhood! But where, do you live? In your photo no1 , you say "my Bali flower"; don't tell me you are in the magnificent Bali right now? Are you permanently there, or for vacations?
I can see the plant life around you, Coconut Trees, Bougainvilleas, tiny Portulacas (your "colourful shrubs"), and this "strange " Verbennaria" pot plant , all of them are plants for exotic places, or Mediterranean plants. I have searched for your Verbennaria plant, though, and it seems it does not exist ; is the spelling of its name correct? I only know this tiny sensitive perennial with the similar name, Verbena. I will post some photos , to see what I mean. O.K
I It must be quite warm over there right now. And , even if you feel lonely , it is great to experience such a serenity and beauty around you.. And , "being lonely" has just finished for you; because you just joined us!! Welcome, again!

Lovely to make your acquaintance, Nondin, and thanks for sharing your garden, however small, and surroundings. I must confess to feeling a little envious of your view though - I live in the suburbs of London and my view is only of lots of other houses, roads and cars! And as for being lonely, the faceless masses can make one feel just as lonely at times but, as my dear friend Liza says, you need never be again, as long as you have an internet connection, because we're all here to share our gardening troubles and triumphs!

Welcome Nondin12 Jan '07 2:41 am
I too was wondering while reading your post where you are. It is easy to change your profile to allow your location to show, if you do not object to this. I hope that even though you talk about being lonely, you do have someone to share your garden with since you keep using "our" when referring to the beach. Perhaps there are others in your community who have an interest in gardening also. You should keep an eye out for other dwellings where gardens have been planted. In my experience, gardeners are the most generous souls on the planet and would be thrilled to have someone admire their gardens.
At any rate, Liza and Jack are correct that you have now found a great place to share your garden photos and talk with others who can offer advice when you need it.

A great guessing game going on - I see by your photo you drive on the left ,and I thought you were north Auckland ,but the palms puzzle me .
Have you caught up with Jacqueline's thread? She has a small balcony area ,but has planted it so that it looks stunning .Some height ,as she has arranged it, will make a small area look lush and full. I like your 'Bali' ornament .

Hi Liza....Actually I am from Kota Kinabalu Sabah Malaysia...and that Bali Pot I contructed myself(not really a good result as i just started playing with clay and pottery)based on the original product. So the plants name is PORTULACAS..THANK YOU!Suprisingly we do not have a proper name for that cutie..folks here simply naming that plant with all sort of whatever phrase to their convenience! What a shame..till u appear with its proper name----PORTULACAS!Nice!Verbenanaria..yes!Thats that we call it here..most likely not an English name even though sound like it or has been subjected to local abuse of improper naming!..Thanks for the Verbena photos!
Nice to be with U all!
