Thanks to Bambi
4 Mar '07 3:40 am Dear Bambi, thanks for expressing concern for me. I sometimes forget that our world has indeed shrunk with the advent of the digital age. I don't think of local news making it's way to Europe.
Yes, I was very fortunate that none of the distructive tornadoes hit near my home. The worst devastation was in southern Alabama and Georgia. Eight high school students were killed at their school in Enterprise, Alabama and one other person in the neighborhood around the school. The total of deaths in Alabama was ten and I believe their were nine killed in Georgia. There were many more injured at the school in Enterprise, but hopefully they will heal quickly (at least the cuts, bruises, and broken bones).
Again, thanks for expressing concern. It is nice to know I have people wishing me well from such great distances.

It is terrible...
4 Mar '07 4:44 am Faith !! I am SO SORRY! Since I was little these special "Nature attacks" in the USA -- that never occure in Greece-- filled me with awe!! In 1964 my father was there with a scholarship in the Army School, somewhere at the Central States (Levenworth??), and, coming back, he was narrating things he had seen with his own eyes after such nature attacks... For little Liza, they were sounding like ....Science Fiction stories...Cars and boats on houses, and things like that...In Greece people suffer from terrible earthquakes! I have experienced myself, about 10-13 of them, but only 3 out of them were killers...It is hor-ri-ble, because it arrives suddenly, unexpectedly...

4 Mar '07 1:09 pm I too was anxious about our American forum friends ,and it is good to know you are personally all right Faith ,but for the families affected the loss of young lives is so hard to bear .
As a little girl I was always terrified of the volcanic activity near here ,as the earth's crust is so thin .Reassuring when I was told as long as it has a vent it will be OK.

Thanks to all
5 Mar '07 5:34 am Thanks to all of you for your comments. Mother nature is not always benign no matter where you live. There are some terrible tragedies that can occur; however, we all know that life goes on and that death is just a stop along the way. Yes, it is sad for the families left behing though.
