hi there a few weeks ago i vistted this site for the first time seeking insperation for one of my gardendisigns/schoolprojects. besides the whole garden in it's full and blazing glorie, I took a special interest in your red flaxes. i used them for the now finshed disingn, and tonight, while making my plantindication, i stumbled over the problem of not knowing the Scientiffic name. so i got on the net, did some research and came across the following address: WWW.SMGROWERS.COM/INFO/FLAX.ASP here you'll find all there is-,or you ever wanted to know about flaxes and I thougt i'd let you know. It turns out that the red cultuvar is a hybrid of the Phormiaceae family, and that you were right about the "Maori Maiden" part. the scientiffic name is: Phormium hybr. "Maori Maiden" . Any way, my thanks to you and your garden for the creative help, I hope i was able to return the favor. thanks and happy gardening, Patrick
