Digital Camera Recommendation19 Jan '05 7:38 am
I've received an email from a vacationing flower photographer (aren't we all) who asked me to recommend a good digital camera for flower closeups and plant photos...
If I had the money today in 2005 I'd buy a digital SLR and a few lenses. I know nothing about digital SLR's and less about lenses - For good reviews on digital cameras incl. SLR's go to www.dpreview.com/
About a year ago I bought a fujifilm S7000 and find it perfect for flower and plant photography. garden cameras article
A year on and I love it. The colours can be a little 'fujifilm' greens and reds are more striking - but for your nature, plant and flower photos this is desireable.
The auto focus function is excellent. On the down side the S7000 is expensive and a little on the bulky side. The macro is very good - there is some distortion with the S7000's super macro but you won't notice this unless you photograph graph paper with flowers and plants you will be able to get about 1.5cm away from your subject and autofocus to your hearts content.
The hidden gem of the S7000 is its high quality video footage - a good reason to get a large compact flash card - a 1gb card may seem overkill but with a couple of extra sets of batteries you'll easily fill it with hundreds of 3 megapixel images and half an hour of video footage.
What are your recommendations for a good digital gardening camera? |
