I have never heard of these, are they a Heritage variety?
We are always searching for the elusive "perfect" tomato, the one with the old fashioned taste, a bit zingy, so you can eat a sandwich blind folded and say "By Jove, I know what I've just had"instead of the watery and bland modern varieties.
Last year I tried some Heritage tommies, Black Krim was one, and can't remember the other ones so will have to look at the tags that are still attached to the support poles.
Does anyone have any they can reccommend?
Mind you ,taste is a very individual thing and what you might like I might think very ordinary or vice versa.Still, it would be good to hear what other people grow. |

I'm glad someone else asked that - I've been shopping in anonymous supermarkets for too long...

We grow Brandywine tomatoes here in southern Pennsylvania. I am not a tomato eater, but my husband is, and I grom them for him. They are an Heirloom variety, greatly favored by the Amish, and they do well in drier weather. They seem to be quite susceptible to stem rot and blight. They are a pretty deep pink when fully ripe. My husband claims that they are quite flavorful! |
