The Moosey Garden Pink!6 Jul '06 12:35 am
In the latest Moosey News, our Head Gardener expresses her tender admiration for the most famous soft pink Rose in her garden : The Fairy! And she is so right! She also expresses her attachment to her lovely Mary Rose! Absolutely right, again!
But she is so modest -- again!! Because, when I discovered our website last July ( 2005), and entering her Rose garden, I was astounded of the big number of famous pink beauties she has in her garden! I loved them all!! And since I have been mostly a red and yellow Rose lover, her passion made me feel differently towards the colour pink...
Unfortunately, when I started my crazy and passionate search on growing Roses, 5 summers ago, I was mostly buying French editions to read on Roses. And they mostly proposed French/German/Dutch Roses . Of course, I also bought the excellent English book " The Rose Expert". But all of them, talked so little of "English Roses", never mentioning the name of David Austin. So, the garden has acquired mostly French pink Roses, with only Bonica and Fairy widely known. The rest are pink beauties of all sizes and shades of pink, well known in Europe, and especially in France. All of them are Floribundas.
But after discovering the Moosey Rose Garden, I fell so much in love with Sharifa Asma, Mary Rose, English Elegance, Lavender Lassie,Sexy Rexy, and John Clare!! And it is so late to adopt them now on garden design and artistic level... Because the pink spots in the garden are filled already with beauties of lesser excellence and fame... |
