23 Feb '04 1:23 am Right now in New Zealand it's still summer, and my canna lilies have finally grown to full size. They're absolutely beautiful this year. The leaves are so stunning I don't care about the flowers! I wonder if there are many gardeners like me who primarily grow them for their foliage?

19 Mar '04 8:35 am Have you got the cream and green striped one which is called Bengal Tiger in NZ? I've seen it for ages in American gardening magazines, but they call it somethig different.
And thinking of names - who gets to call a plant a silly name, anyway? Some adverising executive - or a real gardener?

9 Sep '04 7:52 pm My creamy-yellow cannas have just been divided up and replanted ready for the new seasons growth ...I am quite surprised about this, it's a 1st
I grow them mainly for the flowers....but then, the foliage is pretty special too...

10 Sep '04 7:49 am I've got a few cannas but none of the more fancy ones.I have a rather nice red one that has a reddish brown leaf but the others have just a boring old green leaf but nice pink flowers and another one has yellow flowers but I wouldn't mind having a few of the real striking ones with the striped leaves.

After it perfomed last summer it gradually changed to a rather dark muted brown colour with a very interesting 'crunchy' texture
