Krugar Park autumn colour
13 May '06 4:27 am I hope nobody realises I'm hogging the conversation (three strings in a row - or are they three posts on one string? Help with terms, Eggy! )
I found out the beautiful autumn colour I saw in the Kruger Park was Kirkia greggii. There were no stunning autumn pics on the web, but this is rather a grand one, taken a few days too late to capture the glory of its autumn colour... but the Park is always magnificent!

LOL @ Queen Anne legs! A very good description
You have some of the most lovely colourful Autumnal pics, especially the '..six weeks later..'
We have a rather well known road in the central North Island called the Desert Rd. It is on a high plateau and sits at the base of a group of mountains. The last photo you show could have been taken there...right before it snowed! The tussocks and contour are amazingly familiar

13 May '06 9:53 am Dear, dear Jack, and friends - A list, I think!
1. First, thankyou Jack for your cricket tact. Enough said about NZ cricket.
2. No TV reception - my goodness! How do you survive without being able to watch all those dinky little gardening make-over shows?
3. Stunning Jack pix again. The reds are so much richer than here. Canterbury has been a complete Autumn flop.
4. Yes, the pictures of your lake have inspired me... Typical greedy gardener. I want one too! I don't have space for ne quite as big.
5. And as for Montgomery's legs - even more delightful on the dog than on the rugby player!
Well, this morning early I raced outside full of you-know-what, ready to tackle the garden. Oops. A slight frost, rather cold, too early for any sun. All my shelter trees (gums mainly) are too big! Aargh! The word 'coppice' springs to mind. Retreated back into the Moosey office, where I can hide from the cats and the dog and wait for air temperature to increase.
Be of good autumn cheer!

And now it is winter...
