2 Dec '07 5:46 pm Today the annual Cherry-Pip-Spitting contest was held in Cromwell,South island.It is a highly competitive event held between Australians and New Zealanders.Competitors eat the flesh of the cherry,then spit the pip as far as they can-there is quite an art in doing this-aero-dynamics and all that.The winner today spat his cherry pip 11.15 metres,which was disappointingly below the record for this event-the problem being that today there was a head wind to spit into.
