28 Aug '07 3:50 am Ive been going thru withdrawals...I have no flowers, no garden...Im so not an apartment person. I was outside looking at the landscaping ..or lack thereof...and sighing. Almost....ALMOST started pulling weeds. I got myself into check and said they pay someone for that keep your hands to yourself.
We are looking at buying a house toward the end of the year but for now Im in an apartment in a nice and quiet area. We are near everyting including the beach...loverly.
I think Im going to get me some pots and sit them outside on the balcony. Maybe that will help my sense of incompletion.
Love looking at all the wonderful gardens you all have...gives me lots of ideas for my own when Im a home owner again!

Garden withdrawals
30 Aug '07 3:34 am Dear Angie, I can just imagine how stressed you are without a garden to work off steam. Pots would be a good idea because at least you could get your hands dirty and enjoy some greenery to fuss over. I don't know what kind of apartment you are in, maybe one where there is no piece of ground you could claim. I have lived in many apartments in the past and in the cases where each apartment (townhouse style) had their own separate entrances I was able to get permission from the management to install a small flower bed next to my entrance. I just used seed to grow annuals because I really didn't have the money for a lot of expensive perenniels. Of course, not all apartment managers will go for that. They have no way of knowing whether it will become an eyesore if you don't turn out to be a good gardener. But hey, it's worth a try.

Dear Angela, ...
31 Aug '07 12:43 am I am sorry to reply so late... Well, I think you could try a pot garden!! Yes!! I do not really know how it works where you are --like Faith told you-- but, one thing is sure: you are going to love these babies, exactly like they were planted in the ground!! And depending on whether you move later on to a house with a garden, imagine them transplanted in your new garden!!So!! You could have both foliage AND blooming plants, because you live in such a sweet and soft climate actually, non??
And , be grateful, my good friend : imagine some other friends of the recent flood-catastrophy in your country, that are not in the positive position you are already in, and they will never be....You live in a lovely place , you are healthy, you have a job, and you have space for dreaming, and realizing your dreams!! That is SOO WONDERFUL!!
