Gruss an Aachen German Rose31 Jul '05 6:08 am
Hello, dear gardener friends! I just red about Moosey's unknown Cream Rose, and its description matches so very much with one of my own Roses (I will attach 1-2 pictures)!
Well, my Rose has a romantic style, the one of D. A. Roses. But it is a german creation of 1909. His papa was Mr. Geduldig. He is called "Gruss an Aachen"-I'm sorry, I don't speak german- and he is dearly loved in Europe...He is an adorable, very fragrant creature, with dark green healthy leaves, D.A. style, romantic, large double flowers(15cm), slightly cupped at the beginning. He is about 70-100cm high and 60cm large. When his flowers open, they are light, tenderly pink.Later, they become ivory- cream, finishing almost to sugar -white.I'm so sad whenever I cut back his densely bloomed, faded clusters(he is a Floribunda)...I always feel this childish sadness with all my Roses...
I don't know if I helped. Is Gruss an Aachen Moosey's Rose?
All my love, Liza

Ivory-Cream Rose1 Aug '05 9:31 am
Hi Liza. Welcome to the forum! I go away for the weekend and come home to a feast of forum activity Brilliant, thank you.
The rose in your photos is gorgeous. It does look very much like Moosey's unknown ivory-cream rose. I can understand why you hate to cut it back!
