The Westerland Begins7 Jun '06 11:45 am
This is a series of the Westerland going from a bud to the it's open glory. Oh my, if I could only photograph it's fragrence!

I couldn't position myself in front of the rose without standing in the middle of my flowerbed, so I took a foto of this one which is growing on the opposite leg of the pergola.

I can almost smell it..
No wonder so many people on this site have this beautiful rose.
I have added it to my list of must have plants.
Your photos are amazing.

Well, this particular rose is really IS a good one for me and my garden. It suits me to a 'T'...and since I only have two varities of rose it can take it's place of notice without a great deal of competition, I have placed it at the main entrance arch so that folks entering the flower garden pass through a nice "fragrance field", as it were. There are only three blooms at the moment but their fragrance is still remarkable and unavoidable.
Thanks for your nice words folks...and Goose, good luck with getting one--you won't regret it, I can assure you.

Oh Pumpkin...is sure is! for my eyes it's the prettiest.
I just hope it would grow wo long (20'); however, I suspect it will never reach those heights. If it would, I could have a great arch!
I have to say that I don't have the shape right on this thing yet, but hopefully, it'll be better next year.
